Filling in the Gaps

Everyone is out doing their own thing now
While I’m back trying to fill in their gaps
I slept on a couch, trying not to slouch
But I can’t stop craving my heart attack
We used to rant about our days
Then we moved away
My arms reach out
But my feet force me to stay
The clocks only tick one way
If I had the strength to pay
For all the colours to replace the gray
Everyone is tied down to something different now
While I’m the needle drowning in the stack
I slept on a couch, trying not to slouch
But I can’t stop craving what I lack
We used to rant about our days
Then we moved away
My arms reach out
But my feet force me to stay
The clocks only tick one way
If I had the strength to pay
For all the colours to replace the gray
Has it hit you yet
Has it hit you yet
The younger versions of ourselves are dead
It’s time to embrace the wrinkles,
Think a bit more critical
But promise me
That you’ll never become
Bitter
About that time
You’ll learn to fix your crimes
Has it hit you yet
Has it hit you yet
The younger versions of ourselves are learning from our regrets
About that time
You’ll learn to fix your crimes
